Solar carport prices in 2026: what the structure costs.

A custom metal mounting structure costs from approx. £2,100 (1 car) to £24,400 net (3+ cars); for a 2-car solar carport, approx. £3,900 to £10,400 net depending on the material (galvanised steel or anodised aluminium) and options, delivery included. Sunrak sells the structure and its Eurocode 1 engineering study — not the panels, not the inverter, not the electrical install.

What the Sunrak price includes
Complete structure (posts, purlins, beams, panel mounting rails and A2/A4 stainless fasteners), DDP delivery and a 20-year structural warranty. The Eurocode 1 study and plans are ordered and paid for first; the study fee is then credited in full against the structure order under the stated conditions.

Does not include: solar panels, inverter, AC cabling, grid connection, electrical installation, special foundations. For full project orientation (2 cars, 6 kWp): add roughly £6,200–11,500 net (panels + inverter + installation, to be confirmed with your PV installer).
What drives the price

Four factors behind every solar carport price.

Size and number of cars

More bays mean more structure, but the price per m² falls: from about 18 m² for one car to 54 m² and more from three cars.

Material

Anodised aluminium 6063-T5 generally costs more to buy than galvanised steel Z275; the difference depends on sections and spans and is shown in the equipment quote issued after the study. Aluminium is the default choice for small residential structures; galvanised steel is mainly used for large structures. See solar carport wood or metal.

Snow and wind loads

How much does a 2-car solar carport cost?
The custom metal structure costs approx. £3,900 to £10,400 net, DDP delivery included. Anodised aluminium generally costs more to buy than galvanised steel; the difference depends on sections and spans and is shown in the equipment quote issued after the study. Panels, inverter and installation come on top from your PV installer (roughly £6,200–11,500 net for a 6 kWp project, to be confirmed with them).
Why is there no fixed online price?
Because every structure is designed for its site: snow and wind loads, altitude, ground conditions, panels and dimensions all change the sections and anchorages. That is why the structural study comes first and the hardware quotation follows with exact quantities.
How much is the structural study, and is it credited?
Compact covers up to 12 kWp (most domestic carports), Project covers over 12 to 50 kWp at €890 excl. tax and Pro over 50 to 100 kWp at €1,490 excl. tax. 100% of the net study fee is credited against your structure order when placed within 90 days for the same site and scope, provided the net hardware value is at least five times the study fee. Do I need planning permission for a solar carport?
Many domestic carports in England can be permitted development if they meet the outbuilding limits; others need an application. See our guide to solar carport planning permission in the UK.
Does the price include panels and installation?
No. Sunrak supplies only the metal structure, ready to assemble, with stainless fixings and assembly instructions. Panels, inverter, cabling, grid connection, installation and special foundations are excluded.
