A solar carport is a metal structure that shelters one or more vehicles and whose roof integrates photovoltaic modules. Dual function: protection from rain, hail and UV for the vehicle, and electricity production support for the house or EV charger.

How much does the structure cost for a 2-car solar carport?
Count £2,800 to £6,500 net for the metal mounting structure alone (galvanised steel → anodised aluminium), Eurocode 1 study and DDP delivery included. Outside Sunrak's scope: solar panels, inverter, grid connection, electrical installation — to budget separately with your PV installer (add roughly £6,200–11,500 net for those items).
What power can I produce?
A 2-car carport (6×5.5 m) accommodates 16-20 modern panels — 4.5 to 6 kWp peak output.
Do I need planning permission?
Depends on the council. For surface < 30 m², a planning application is generally required but often approved under permitted development. Our drawings are usable directly in your planning file.
What warranty on the metal structure?
20 years structural (corrosion, deformation). 1 year manufacturing defects. Conditions clear in T&Cs, no asterisks.
